New Mexico: The Land of Enchantment

New Mexico?

You've probably heard of New Mexico through a friend, that one aunt, or Breaking Bad and High School Musical.

New Mexico, the 48th state to join the union, is one of the largest and yet least populated states out there.

Have you ever felt a desire to visit New Mexico? People who do visit often don't want to leave, hence the state's nickname of "The Land of Enchantment." Our beautiful sunsets, vast expanses of untamed deserts, and startling landscapes all contribute to New Mexico's beauty and are a major part of what keeps people excited about the state.

What's that symbol on the flag?
Belonging to the Zia people, it is a sun symbol, representing the four:

-points of the compass
-seasons of the year
-periods of each day
-seasons of life
-sacred obligations to develop
(a strong body, a clear mind, a pure spirit, and a devotion to the welfare of others)
Is New Mexico even a part of the US?
Yes. As you can see from this map, New Mexico is in between Arizona and Texas, and just south of Colorado.
Is that a real question people ask?
Shockingly, it is. Even NPR recorded a piece describing the plight of the common New Mexican while interacting with outsiders.
